The Black Oranda also called the black lion head goldfish is a handsome goldfish that features a distinctive jet-black color. The subtle golden highlights on the body contrast beautifully with the shiny black wings and the prominent “hood” that covers its head.

The black lionhead goldfish is a metal-scaled fish, closely resembling species of tail goldfish with tail size and length.
The black lionhead goldfish is one of several species collectively known as ornamental or fancy goldfish; Carassius auratus.
Originally from Asia, Japan, and China, black lionhead goldfish enjoy worldwide distribution due to their controlled breeding program.

Care

If kept in the aquarium, the recommended tank size for a fish is 20 gallons with double filtration. These are social fish so tank companions are recommended.
These should be kept in the sole tank of the species along with other goldfish. Goldfish are only advised to feed the sink because the flakes can cause swim bladder problems.
Lionhead Goldfish are omnivorous, so they thrive on a diet rich in plant and animal ingredients. High-protein diets will make their colors more vivid and grow even more.
Goldfish eat pork and all kinds of dry and live food. But limit protein intake to 30% of your diet. Goldfish flake or pellet meal will provide proper nutrition to these fish.
